Protesters file complaint over beer sales to Native Americans in Whiteclay

LINCOLN — Activists working to end alcohol sales to Native Americans in Whiteclay, Neb., filed a formal complaint Friday against one of the town’s beer store owners.

But before one activist could discuss the complaint with news media, he was arrested on recent charges that he threatened a beer delivery worker in the northwestern border town. (more…)

Tensions in the northwest Nebraska town of Whiteclay have been escalating for the past month following allegations of violence against beer distributors. Shortly before a scheduled press conference Friday morning in Lincoln, activist Timothy McKenzie was arrested. He was intending to file a complaint against a Whiteclay liquor store owner for alleged violence against protestors. (more…)

LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska authorities arrested an activist seeking an end to alcohol sales in Whiteclay on Friday morning before he had a chance to file a complaint against a Whiteclay beer store owner.

Nebraska State Patrol troopers arrested T.R. McKenzie, a member of the group Deep Green Resistance, in the state office building minutes before he planned to file a complaint with the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission. (more…)

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — An activist who is fighting to end alcohol sales in Whiteclay was arrested Friday before he could file a complaint against a beer store owner in the tiny Nebraska town, which borders South Dakota’s Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

State Patrol troopers arrested Timothy R. McKenzie Jr., of Jefferson, S.D., as members of the social justice group Deep Green Resistance were preparing to deliver a complaint letter to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission in Lincoln. (more…)
